All of our lives we have been putting something or ourselves in the line of fire. Why do we keep doing this? Well we do it for many different reasons. We do it for our country or our families or even the towns that we live in. We will put ourselves in the line of fire for our girl or boyfriends. We might even end up in this situation at our schools just by being there.

If you would look at your history books you would find out that we have been doing this since the beginning of time. The cave men would do this every time they stepped out of their caves to go after their food. They had a deal with some pretty big creatures that would look at them as so to say lunch. Even they had fights about territories, or they had to fight for their families or their way of life. They would have to fight off other clans that would try to take what they thought was theirs.

After the cavemen then there were all kinds of battles for many different things. There were religious wars and wars for power and wealth. We have put ourselves in the line of fire for even our kinds of music, or the way we dress and sometimes for no other reason but because of the color of our skin.

It used to be just men that would put themselves in the line of fire, but today we women are also putting ourselves into the line of fire. It used to be that if women got into a fight, it wasn’t considered anything but a fight. It wasn’t even thought of that a woman would be putting herself in the line of fire, but she was more than sometimes a man. She was the one that was fighting for the rights of her children to go to school or where this child was to go to school the men, were doing the same things but in different situations.

Every one of us has, in one way or another, put ourselves in the line of fire. We do it from the time we get up in the morning to the time we get home at night. We do it when we go to work and try to defend the job that we do for this employer. If his parts are made wrong you might be put in the line of fire to defend those parts that you made to prove that you didn’t make it wrong. Every time you open your mouth to defend yourself against something you are putting yourself in the line of fire.

Have you ever heard someone saying that a person could be walking on water or walking in the clouds? If you were talking about someone walking with their head in the clouds, it could mean that they are so in love with someone that it is all they have on their minds. It could mean that they had just gotten a new job, or that they had come into a lot of money.

Sometimes we think that if a person holds their head up and doesn’t talk much that they are either stuck-up or just in the clouds. If we say that someone is acting like they could walk on water we are actually saying that this person thinks that they can do no wrong. When you walk around not noticing the things around you then you would be said to have your head in the clouds, but this isn’t always a good thing to do. You could walk into something that is in your path or the worst that could happen is you could fall down a flight of stairs if you weren’t looking or know that they are there. If you are so deep in thought that you might miss something that was said, and this might have something to do with you or your job.

If you do this all the time people will most likely just stop talking to you all together. They will know that you haven’t heard a word that they said to you, or they might think that you are going deaf and will start to yell at you to get your attention. This can be a bad thing also, especially if you work in a nursing home or a hospital or even if you work in a coal mine. You have to be quiet at all times in these kinds of places, and someone can’t be always yelling at someone to get their attention.

If this does happen and you don’t stop keeping your head out of the clouds or even walking on water you could, for most reasons, be let go from your job. This might be one way to make you learn not to do these things because you might have a family, and this wouldn’t help the family unit.

We all remember the horrible pictures and video footage when the twin towers were burning up. We watched at home on our televisions as news broadcasts were televising the live coverage of people trying to escape and firefighters frantically trying to reach those that were trapped in the top floors of the buildings. Some of the most horrible scenes we saw that day were the people who ended up jumping out of the windows. We can not imagine being in that position. To have no other choice except jump from a height like that would give most of us a heart attack just thinking of it. It is unrealistic to live in fear all of the time. We have to live our lives and sometimes that might require that we enter a tall building or skyscraper at one time or another if not everyday.

How do you think you would react if you were on the twentieth floor or higher in a building like the twin towers? The day the twin towers were burned and collapsed, instead of the usual panic, some people did not get out as quickly as they should. Some were going to get out in the beginning, but thought that everything would be alright and stayed inside too long. This was a mistake and is anytime there is a fire in a building that tall.

You should never panic if you can avoid it, but you should begin to make your way down and out of the building as soon as you know there is a fire. Do not take the elevators. We all know that. You could be trapped inside them if the power goes off or it could be damaged by the fire itself. Always take the stairs. Depending on how many flights you have to go down, you should go quickly, but not at a pace that will exhaust you too quickly.

Once you get out, never go back in. Even if you want to help, leave that to the professional firefighters because chances are you could become trapped inside again and only add to the job they have to do. No one really knows how they would react in a situation like this, but it is something to think about so that your plan of escape will be in the back of your mind somewhere just in case you ever are.
