Forums come in all shapes, sizes, colors and assortments. Some of these forums are for fun, sports, tech, education, law, gaming, or even business reasons. Most of the forums I belong to are business but, they also have a ton of other informational threads, posts and sections you can look at to get ideas for all sorts of things like running a business, starting a business, tax laws, making money online, etc. I would love to own a forum like this, but I was always under the impression that not only were this forums impossible to build unless you had knowledge, but they were also really expensive.

Now, if you were thinking the same thing, I have to say it, we were both wrong! The fact of the matter is, is that there are people that will actually develop forums such as these for free! Not only free forums, but free hosting, tons of FAQ about the forums and hosting, and they offer phpBB forums!

phpBB is one of the most popular forms of package written for forums with PHP scripting languages. phpBB is an abbreviation on PHP bulletin Board, Available under the GNU General Public License, phpBB is free software. Forum software packages are also widely obtainable on the Internet and are written in a variety of computer programming languages, such as PHP, Perl, Java and ASP. The conformation and records of posts can be stacked away in text files or in a database.

Every software program provides unique features, from the most standard, supplying text-only postings, to more advanced bundles, offering multimedia support and data formatting code (usually known as BBCode). Numerous packages can be incorporated easily into an existent website to allow visitors to post commentaries on articles, one of these packages is the phpBB package and this is why this kind of programming is one of the most popular options when developing a forum; quick, easy, uncomplicated.

Just think, all those times when we wanted to build a forum and were too scared to because we knew we wouldn’t know how to, or we would get stuck on something, and all along there have been offers like this?!? That’s unbelievable! I have to wonder why no one bothered to tell me about something like this?!? Oh well, now we are both wiser and more knowledgeable about these types of forums, and now we can go build empires upon empires, or okay, one or two.

Whatever amount you decide on, just know that this will not only be the easiest thing you ever did, and the cheapest (free is pretty cheap!) but also the funnest! Forums are awesome, and since it’s your forum, you can do pretty much anything you want with it. Want a WoW forum? How about a Comic Books forum? How about a forum dedicated to lasagna? Whatever you want, you can have, so get your brain in gear and think think think! Good luck on your new found forum!

By definition a forum or a message board is a website for communication between members to talk about various things that interest them. Forums usually consist of group contributors who must register within the forum before any initial conversing goes on, the members use topics known as threads to communicate with each other using items called posts. These sites will also have something else called PMs or private messages. Most all forums are completely free to join, through depending on the site and what it’s for, there may be a membership available or a fee in order to post threads. For example, on one forum I go to, it’s completely free, however, if you want to have “donor” status, have access to certain parts of the forum and have a bigger inbox, you can pay a 3 month or 1 year membership. On another forum I’m a member of, it’s completely free, however, if you want to post a thread in the marketplace or service section; you must pay a fee.

The reason people like going on these sites so much is because sites like these build friendships, bonds, and business contacts. These forums are great no matter what your into, what you like, what you do for a living, etc. Various people of all ages, sexes, nationalities and locations are members and become members of these forums every single day. In most instances you won’t just have a forum that is a forum. Instead, you will have a forum that covers a certain topic (mainly) or a niche. For example, a forum like NamePros is mainly for domainers and people that are interested in domain names, domain businesses, web hosting or any other activities done through websites. Whereas a forum like TAF is a gaming forum; so most everything in this forum will revolve around games; video games, video game consoles, PC games, articles about games and they might even have extra things like arcades.

It’s more than likely that these sites will run on phpBB which is a specifics styling of a forum. phpBB is one of the most popular forms of package written for forums with PHP scripting languages. phpBB is an abbreviation on PHP bulletin Board, Available under the GNU General Public License, phpBB is free software. Every single day people are trying to figure out how they can make money online, if only they realized how easy it was, they would probably be kicking themselves right now! You can actually start earning money on a forum! Yep, it’s true, you can earn money several different ways on a forum, either a new or an old one. I actually prefer starting from scratch and would advise you to try this out with a clean slate but really you can try whatever you want and do it however you want to do it!

Obviously forums are a HUGE part of the Internet, there are well over millions of them available all over the place, in every single category and niche you can think of such as; sports, gaming, electronics, art, celebrities, outdoors, travel, cooking, etc. These sites are plentiful because there are so many different types of people online, from age, creed, sex, nationality and interests which is why even if you build a brand new forum and market it, masses of people will join it, which is obviously what you want. For the most part making money on a forum isn’t an instant money maker, first you need to design it, host it, get the topics together, and then of course, get people to join it.

But for the most part sites like Warrior Forum, Name Pros, and Site Point make thousands a dollars a month off of their forums and you can too, once you receive a certain amount of people. Usually I don’t like to introduce ads until about a thousand members because then people think “hm, this site is all about the ads”. And people don’t like being sold on the spot. Give it some time. Let your backlinks flourish with article marketing, directories, blogs and advertising. Once you reach about 500 members or so, you can then introduce ads and other money making strategies. Some of these strategies are listed below, in no particular order.

- AdSense - You can place ads on your site, have it be contextual or otherwise. When people click these ads you will be paid a certain “affiliate” commission. There are some people out there making thousands of dollars a month just on AdSense alone, so this is a great idea that is not only quick but easy.

- Google makes all the ads for you, all you have to do is customize them and to place them on your website. Simple stuff.

- CPM banners - These are banners from CPM (click per thousand) that you can place on your websites. Now depending on what type of CPM site it is, you will either get paid per click or per action. If you get paid per click then you will receive a percentage per every click. If its a pay per action then all you have to do is get people to “view” the ad on the page it’s on. Notice on most CPM programs, the click is worth more than the view because anyone can get a view! These banners can be relevant or irrelevant to your website, again it depends on the website you use! In some cases they will let you customize your campaign and pick the category of the banner. If you have a gaming forum, place gaming ads. If you have a cooking forum, place food ads.

- Affiliate link - Links can be placed anywhere on your forum, as long as they follow the regulations and rules of the website your getting the ads from. I link to join affiliate hubs like Amazon, Linkshare and Kolimbo, because they have a huge amount of affiliates available right in their network and everything is organized. When you belong to an affiliate program like Amazon, Linkshare or Kolimbo, you can be an affiliate with as many companies/businesses as you want. There isn’t a limit. But more often than not I find it a good idea to focus on no more than 3 brands/products/services. After you get over three it just becomes more work. And if your can’t figure out how to make money on three, how in the world will you be able to make money on 30? Its common sense. Only do as many as you can do while making profits in the process.

- Membership Fees - Obviously I wouldn’t charge a fee right off the bat, instead make it so everyone can join for free, but that they can only go to certain parts of the website. I know of one website which has free memberships, but if you want to visit say, the download section, you have to pay a membership fee. Obviously this section needs to be incredible because you really don’t want your members to feel cheated but also because you want to give them a reason TO upgrade and TO pay TO visit that section. You can also make members pay per thread. Obviously don’t do this for every thread on the forum because it’s not viable and it’s also not very fair.

Instead, make them pay a fee to post a thread in a special section like the service or marketplace area. Some sites charge $10, some sites charge $20. But really if you think about it, you can use the fees for threads as profit or as a terrific way to make money for hosting, which on some servers can get expensive, especially if you have 500,000 members that are active!

- Banner Space / Sponsor Ads - Personally I wouldn’t offer this service and one of the other banner options at the same time because A) the member who bought the space could as well feel that peoples attention is diverted away from his or her ad, but also because too many ads leads to less members. Ads can sometimes get annoying when forum owners go overboard. So just make sure you pick a happy medium. You can charge people X amount of dollars per day/week/month/year and let them place one of their text links, or banners on your site (where space is available aka ad space).

I don’t recommend starting a forum solely for making money off of itself. You have to be interested and passionate about your forum and then when people see that enthusiasm behind it, they would be much more willing to join, however, it is a good way to make money once you start receiving enough members and enough posts. Remember a forum can have 100,000 members, but if there are only 2 posts, people are probably going to wonder what’s up.

Some people make the mistake of trying those services like Forum Booster which makes you pay X amount of dollars to receive membership sign ups. Listen if you are going to do something like this, I would say pay for posts, not members. Members won’t bring more members (who are active) but helpful non spammy posts will bring more members and make more people want to post, plus this is a good way of getting your forum indexed by Google, Alexa, and Yahoo bots!

You know, a Ferrari isn’t awesome because its $250,000 and a cup of coffee isn’t awesome because its $4.00 (I go to starbucks). Its awesome because of the passion, craftsmanship and yummy biscotti that goes along with it! A free forum doesn’t make the forum worth any less or any more, what makes it worthy or unworthy is the work you put into it, the advertising, marketing, posts, customizations, niches, thoughts, ideas, etc. If you think you can really spruce up a forum and make people want to join it, it doesn’t matter if its $250k or $4, they will join it.

The point isn’t in the amount you buy it for, but the amount of money people SEE it worth. If you expect a free forum to take off, you gotta have tons of info, you have to be inviting, you have to be fun and or professional (whatever your using the forum for). These free forums are really nice for people that really need a forum but cant pay for designs, templates, hosting or even a developer, which can cost on upwards to thousands of dollars! They will utilize the very popular phpBB 3 board to attain the highest security measures and flexibility.

You can select from more than 200 templates to custom-make your own forum. I like this option because I love to customize sites and make them “mine.” Another reason these free forums might be perfect for you, is if your not very technically inclined. Not only will sites offer a free forum to you but they also offer free hosting. This is great for those of us who got confused over something as easy as Wordpress! Hey I’m just as smart as the next person, but when it comes to DNS servers and all that stuff? You completely lose me.

I don’t know left from right or Jack from Jill. What can get really confusing is the coding, and that’s just not something you want to mess with if you haven’t had experience with it before! Another nice thing about these forums is that they provide phpBB coding! phpBB is one of the most popular forms of packaging written for forums with PHP scripting languages. phpBB is an abbreviation on PHP bulletin Board, obtainable under the GNU General Public License, phpBB is free software package.

Forum software packages are also widely ready on the Internet and are written in a assortment of computer programming languages, such as PHP, Perl, Java and ASP.

You really could make a forum work and make it popular if its free or if its paid. But honestly I think its really amazing that people would even bothering offering a service like this, I mean this really is a kind gesture of sorts, don’t you think? Its kind but its also viable. These forums are nothing short of great! Don’t trust me? Well the next time your online looking around for something free like this, visit your favorite search engine, try it out, and see for yourself!

Some things in life really are free! Lately I have been looking online for few sites that offer free meeting places like forums and message boards, and these websites really are few and far in between. For some reason no one is really into providing free forums or free web hosting, I guess a lot of people are hungry and think “hey if I’m not getting something out of the deal, then neither are you.” However, there are people that don’t think like this and will assist you in getting something really cool like this.

Actually, this is a awesome idea if your low on money but urgently need a forum for whatever reason.

The configuration and records of posts can be piled away in text files or in a database. Each software program offers unique features, from the most standard, supplying text-only postings, to more innovative bundles, offering multimedia support and data formatting code (usually known as BBCode). Numerous packages can be incorporated easily into an existent website to allow visitors post comments on articles, one of these packages is the phpBB package and this is why this type of programming is one of the most frequent choices when developing a forum; fast, easy, painless.

These forums aren’t junky just because they are free! Nope. Every Last forum will be produced automatically, and you just need to affirm your verification e-mail, and it’s up. It will only take a 2 minutes! Plus as said above they will utilize the very popular phpBB 3 board to attain the highest security measures and flexibility. You can select from more than 200 templates to custom-make your own forum. I like this option because I love to customize sites and make them “mine.” I could never stand joining any forum or any website that wouldn’t let me pick out the colors I wanted! So, these forums are free, they offer the greatest software, they let you customize, and they answer all of your questions about forums?
